Professional Profile
Mr Kim graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 1996, whose higher orthopaedic training was in Manchester, obtaining the FRCS (Orth). He subsequently underwent specialist training in the prestigious Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship in Vancouver with an Ethicon Foundation Travelling Fellowship Award. In addition, Mr Kim was recipient of the highly regarded British Orthopaedic Foundation Travelling Fellowship to the world renowned Mayo Clinic, Minnesota and the Hospital of Surgery (HSS) in New York, USA.
Mr Kim's elective NHS and private practices encompass all aspect of hip and knee surgery. His training, specialist interest and experience are in hip and knee disorders including primary, routine and complex knee and hip replacements, hip and knee arthroscopies, resurfacing hip arthroplasty, hip and knee surgery for the young adult, unicompartmental knee replacements, and revision total hip and knee replacements.
Mr Kim has a strong research background and has lectured widely in national and international meetings such as the British Hip Society, British Orthopaedic Research Society, European Orthopaedic Research Society, British Trauma Society and the British Orthopaedic Association.
Mr Kim has garnered several awards and prizes, including prizes for best basic science research (Peter Mallimson Prize, Best Fellow Research Award UBC, Vancouver), Ronald Ravens Barbers Award and the Sir John Charnley Trust Award. He was also awarded the Harvey Green Surgical Teacher Prize in 2005 and is speciality tutor in orthopaedics at Salford Royal and orthopaedic lead for undergraduate teaching.
