Andrew was first appointed as a consultant in 2002. In July 2008 he moved to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport to take up a post that allowed him to specialise exclusively in Knee Surgery.
Andrew trained in the North West of England after undertaking a years research in knee surgery at the Royal Preston Hospital. In the last year of his training he arranged two internationally renown fellowships:-
Melbourne, Australia This concentrated on the treatment of all levels of sportsmen and their injuries, especially arthroscopic (keyhole) and ligament reconstructive (ACL) knee surgery.
Wrightington Hospital, Wigan This has a worldwide reputation for its work on joint replacement surgery for both total and partial knee replacements.
Andrew's elective NHS practice is exclusively devoted to knee surgery. He treats meniscal (cartilage) and knee ligament (ACL) problems. The problems associated with the young arthritic knee can require a variety of solutions. These include cartilage regeneration, osteotomies to realign the knee and partial joint replacements. Andrew is experienced in all these procedures. He also has extensive experience in total knee replacements.
