I graduated from Manchester Medical School in 1997. I began my surgical training in the North West, completing the Basic Surgical rotation at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Having completed my MRCS exams in 2001, I continued to pursue a career in Trauma and Orthopaedics, working in the region, including six months NMGH. I began the North West Registrar Rotation at NMGH in 2004. The first four years were spent in General Orthopaedics and Trauma training, throughout hospitals in the North West. After attaining the FRCS in 2009 I have pursued my interest in Upper Limb Surgery.
I have developed an interest in Undergraduate teaching during my training and would like to continue this as a consultant. This interest was originally developed as a Anatomy Demonstrator at the University of Cambridge in 1999. I have attempted to try and pursue this throughout my registrar training, being actively involved in a group, teaching both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. I have applied to become PBL tutor as a consultant. I have also had research in aspects of medical education published in a peer review journal. Although my main aim has been to become a competent and reliable surgeon and colleague I have been involved in research throughout my training. This has led to peer reviewed publications as well as numerous presentations, both national and international. The majority of my research efforts were concentrated on my thesis for my MSc. This has led to a prize winning presentation and thesis being published as a book. As previously stated, my aim has been to try and gain as much experience from my training as possible in order to become a competent and reliable colleague. I believed that my interpersonal and communication skills have always been good, I would hope to complement a harmonious and hard working department.
