Dermatology is the study and treatment of the skin, hair and nails. The most commonly addressed problems are acne, psoriasis, alopecia and skin cancer. However there are numerous problems which come under this area of medicine. All can be diagnosed very quickly using various diagnostic tests, which include close examination using non invasive, specialist equipment, blood tests, skin scrapings, biopsies and x-rays. Specialists in this area are known as consultant dermatologists.
