Donor Insemination

Manchester Fertility Services actively recruits sperm donors and is one of the largest and most successful donor sperm banks in the United Kingdom.

Treatment by donor insemination (DI) is recommended when the male partner has no sperm or a very low sperm count or where there is a high probability of passing on a genetic abnormality. The procedure is also used for single females and same sex couples who are seeking a pregnancy. Donor sperm can be used in treatment with intrauterine insemination or for IVF. All our sperm donors are carefully chosen healthy men between the ages of 18 to 40 and are screened for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, cytomegalovirus and other sexually transmitted diseases. Where possible, a choice of donor characteristics will be offered.
